Catching Waves in La Union

It was during Sophia's 1st birthday (my bestfriends' daughter) that my highschool friends/co-Ninong and Ninang planned to have an early summer weekend trip to La Union . I was hesitant at first since I'm not a good swimmer but my friend assured me that its safe and easy. A month of planning and coordinating and off we go to surfers haven!
Sunrise!
We arrived in La Union very early (because of our drivers' "Need for Speed" level of driving hehe). As soon as I saw the beach, I got more excited to surf!! Woohoo!! There were a couple of people walking by the beach. My friend as you can see in the pic below can't contain his excitement..hehe.. We were just looking around and then we bought some taho since we haven't had breakfast yet (it was good but the sugar was a little burnt for my taste).
Beach beach din pag may time, diba Fred? :)
Then we spotted Luke Landrigan's dog River :) He was very friendly and playful. He kept on biting and pulling my bag, I guess he's looking for some munchies hehehe..

Adorable River :)
After our mini-stroll on the beach, its time to get ready for our surfing lessons (yey!I thought we will be surfing in Urbiztondo but our guide told us that the waves that day are not good for surfing so we traveled a good 30-40 minutes to Bacnotan.
Waves! Waves! Waves!
All geared up! Rashguards are provided but you can bring your own.
Surfing 101: Instructor covering the basics and the do's and dont's.
You need to practice while still on shore.

Proper posture is essential for balance.

I volunteered for 2nd batch since the instructors cannot accomodate all us at the same time and...
I'm also busy taking pictures so I wasn't listening well during the lecture..hehe
Pro surfers Mara and Gene..and newbie surfer..Me! Hehe..
We also went  to the famous Halohalo de Iloko! Aside from their signature halohalo, we also ordered Emparedados (native cheeseburger) and Palabokano (Palabok Ilocano with longganisa bits)
Halohalo de Iloko! Yum!
Group pic while waiting for our orders .
Some more pics from our Day 2!! :)
Moonleaf! Oh yes!
