PARADISO - a place of extreme beauty, delight, or happiness.
My recent trip to Palawan last August was indeed the highlight of my 2015. I was really looking forward to it even if some of my friends didn't make it (Fred and Julianne, you were missed!). Still, even if it were just the four of us, we made the most out of it and truly enjoyed ourselves.
My blog posts for the next couple of days will be a series of our day-to-day in Palawan. I will also post separate entries of places, activities and what-have-you, that made our trip not only sassy but truly unforgettable. Well, aside from documentation, I hope that my posts might also help if you're also planning to visit the paradise that is Palawan J
Me and my friends decided to just meet up at NAIA Terminal 4. We ate breakfast at Jollibee (hehe) and expected to board the plane around 9:30AM,but of course, due to congestion in NAIA, we didn't depart on time. But rather than be pissed about it, we just planned on where we want to go since we don't have a final "itinerary" yet.
During our OL discussions, we would love to visit different areas in Palawan, but due to budget and time constraints, we focused on El Nido and Puerto Princesa. Our simplified itinerary above serves only as a guide and until when we will be staying at El Nido and Puerto. The details like "Which beach?" "What activity?", as we say, will come to us hehe J
We arrived in Puerto Princesa around lunch time and we were really excited to try some Certified Palawan food spot. Since we will still be waiting for the other passengers of the van, we asked the driver to bring us to Haim Chicken Inato/ Balay Inato.
Spicy Chicken Inato - Php 100.00 |
Food at Haim was reasonably priced and tastes incredibly good. Inato was their version of barbecue and since I've read good reviews about this place, I cant pass on it. I only added Php 45.00 pesos for my share on the pitcher of iced tea. More photos here.
Going to El Nido is a good 5-6 hours travel by land (whew!). Good thing, our host in El Nido recommended this van transfer. The seats, as you can see, is very comfortable and the air-conditioning was working really well. They charged us Php 600.00 per pax going to El Nido.
By the way, food and drinks (like water, etc.) is way expensive in El Nido, so it is highly advised that you buy (if you can) everything that you need in Puerto Princesa. In our case, we bought water good for 3 days, bread for breakfast and some snacks.

We left Puerto Princesa around 2:30PM and reached El Nido proper around 8PM. In El Nido, we will be staying in a fishing village in Bucana, that's why we also booked the van to take us there for an additional Php 1,000.00. We asked the driver to wait for us for a bit as we did a quick shopping in the wet market.
Bucana was a good 1 hour or so away from El Nido proper. It was already dark when we got there but we were welcomed and assisted by Kuya Buknoy, the katiwala of the house we will be staying. We still need to walk a good 5-10 minutes and will be passing a hanging bridge. Yes, a hanging bridge! As we approach the shore, we can already smell the sea and it got us more excited despite the loooongg trip. Since we cant appreciate the place yet, we had dinner and decided to call it a night. The sound of the waves was a welcoming lullaby and promises a great experience ahead of us.
